Brighon to step up Phillips pursuit following White exit: The Athletic (reliability: 5 stars)

Arsenal have completed the signing of Ben White from Brighton for a whopping £50m, making the centre-back the third most expensive Englishman in history.

The transfer has some interesting ramifications for Liverpool though, with Brighton reportedly interested in Nat Phillips.

According to The Athletic, the Seagulls will ‘step up’ their pursuit of Liverpool’s centre-back following their latest windfall.

Phillips has been named as a ‘leading choice’ to bolster Graham Potter‘s defence and has been pursued by the club for a while.

His added experience at the highest level and Brighton’s bolstered war-chest could mean Liverpool can get near to or more than their valuation of £15m.
