If you’re afraid that you will forget an item before leaving home, place it on the FLOOR in front of your door

That way you will either pick it up or end up with a lovely dent in your foot 🙂

  1. I usually just move the item to a table near the door and put my keys and sunglasses on top of it. 🤷‍♀️ The floor isn’t a great choice when you have dogs, kids, busy roommates, etc.

  2. I park in my own attached garage, so I put whatever it is in the car on the passenger seat the night before. Or, attach my keys to whatever it is.

  3. If I remember something i need to do tomorrow as i am falling asleep. Being too lazy to get up and go get a note pad and write it down. I would drop my car keys in the shoes i plan to wear.

I would forget by morning, then put my shoe on…oh I remember now.

  4. I do this all the time near the end of my day in my workshop. Instead of the direct floor I put it on a stool about knee high so that if it is smaller I won’t accidentally step on or over it, but otherwise the concept is the same. It has yet to fail me.

  5. I have caribeaners attached to mu purse. When I really need to take something I awkwardly attach it to the purse with the biner so that when I pick up my purse the extra stuff knocks me out of my morning routine and I can take it.

  6. Yep.

Booby-trap things to make you grab them first. I live alone so I even do it to my stairsL: booby-trap the stair so you have to pick it up to proceed upstairs.

Still doesn’t always work, but usually does.

  7. I put that stuff on my shoes I wear. Can’t forget what to take in the morning if I have to move it to put my shoes on.

  8. If I have to set an alarm for the morning, I leave a sticky note on the stairs, on the actual step. Always reminds me when I go up to bed at night to set it

  9. Or in the case of bringing in treats for the office – you’ll have ant-covered treats. Don’t ask me how I know 🙂

  10. When I used to venture outside my house, in the long ago, before COVID…

There was a postit on my door that said KEYS/PHONE/WALLET. I then proceeded to give myself a pat down to make sure I had them all before leaving. Top stuff.

  11. I hang it (or a reminder of it) on the doorknob. After leaving the house without my computer bag one too many times, when I’m done with it for the night it gets hung on the doorknob. If I have to take the trash, an empty trashbag gets hung up. So far it’s worked for me.
