Liverpool reportedly had bid for €100-rated Chiesa rejected

Contrary to reports that Liverpool never tried to sign Federico Chiesa, Sport1 journalist Florian Plettenberg claims the Reds tabled a bid for the attacker.

However, Juventus, who have first refusal on Chiesa, rejected the bid.

Chiesa is valued at €100m, but the amount of money Liverpool bid for the 23-year-old was not disclosed.

The Italian forward is tied to Fiorentina but is on a two-year loan spell with Juventus.

The Genoa-born striker shot to the limelight last season with his superb displays for Juventus. He bagged 15 goals and 11 assists to help the Bianconeri qualify for the Champions League.
