Liverpool have been linked with a host of midfielders this summer and the Reds also want to add a forward to their ranks, as per multiple reports.
Tribuna.com has compiled a list of some of these transfer rumours, arranged from least likely to come/leave to the highest. Here’s your transfer roundup with everything you need to know about the Reds’ transfer activity:
Probability of arrival: Zero to 40%
Manuel Locatelli: Locatelli has been linked with a move away from Sassuolo throughout the summer, with La Gazzetta dello Sport crediting the Reds with some interest too. €40m is the asking price – while that makes this deal more possible than someone like Barella, we’ll have to wait for more reliable outlets to cover this before we get too excited.
Federico Chiesa: There have been more rumours circulating about this lately, but Fabrizio Romano made it clear that despite Liverpool’s ‘interest’, Chiesa leaving Juventus isn’t happening.
Domenico Berardi: Corriere della Sera have linked the Reds with the talented winger. The Express also claim Liverpool are ”fascinated” by his talent. However, Sassuolo’s CEO Giovanni Carnevali has said: “We want to keep Berardi, he’s our top player.”
Aaron Ramsey: Yet another midfielder – are we even surprised at this point? Talksport is the original source here, so there’s about as much truth to this report as there is to Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane having a rift. No chance the Reds move for the Juventus reject this summer.
Youri Tielemans: Niel Jones reported that Leicester are asking for too much and a move is not viable both in terms of transfer fees and in terms of wages. Therefore, this chapter can be closed.
Isco: Real Madrid have slapped a £20m price tag on Isco, according to reports in Spain. Fichajes linked the Reds with an interest in the midfielder, but that’s not a very reliable source so the chances of Isco arriving are low at the moment.
Probability of arrival: 40 to 60%
Saul Niguez: The links to Saul don’t stop and it’s easy to see why – he wants to leave Atletico and fits the Reds’ profile for a midfielder they want. Marca’s latest update claims that a bid of £41m should be enough to pry the player away from La Liga – however, a bid hasn’t been sent in yet. Neil Jones of Goal.com categorically denied a chance of this deal happening, but foreign outlets have not yet given their final verdict.
Houssem Aouar: ESPN and Daily Mail claim that Klopp wants the midfielder as he is a fan of Aouar’s playing style. However, no new reports have come up the past 3 days – if new links don’t come in soon, it’s unlikely that we see a move happening. Not yet one to be ruled out, however, given that the hunt for a midfielder is still on.
Probability of arrival: Over 60%
Jarrod Bowen: James Pearce and The Athletic have reported that he is on Liverpool’s transfer shortlist ahead of the new season. The Daily Mail also agree as they added that he remains on Liverpool’s list. Given Bowen’s homegrown tag and Premier League experience, we’re giving this a decent chance of happening should a bid be sent in.
Chance of leaving: Zero to 40%
Nat Phillips: Neil Jones said that Phillips could depart before the window ends, but that will be based on what Liverpool can get for him. The Reds value him at around £15M and a few clubs are interested in the player.
Neco Williams: The Athletic claim that Neco is likely to leave this summer with the Reds just waiting for a good offer for the right-back. However, Paul Gorst of the Liverpool Echo said that the Reds are happy to keep Neco if he doesn’t force a move – they won’t let him go for less than around £10m.
Naby Keita: Given that Keita has only 2 years left on his current deal, rumours circulated about his departure (as per Mark Ogden of ESPN). However, as things stand, Keita is surely not leaving as no concrete reports of the same have come out.
Chance of leaving: 40 to 60%
Divock Origi: No new updates on whether a bid has been made but the stance on Origi is clear – should a good offer arrive, the Reds are happy to let go of the underperforming striker, as per Fabrizio Romano.
Chance of leaving: Over 60%
Loris Karius: The goalkeeper is leaving for sure, but no club has been named as a destination yet. The Reds would prefer a permanent deal as Karius has spent the last two seasons out on loan.
Xherdan Shaqiri: The Swiss winger said that Liverpool won’t stand in his way and he aims to go back to Serie A, with Lazio a preferred destination. As per James Pearce, the Reds value Shaq at around ₤12M – we don’t know where Shaq will end up, but it would surely be surprising if he is a Red at the start of the next season.
