Try to keep in mind that you can be wrong at any given moment.

You can be wrong about something you’re an expert in or something you saw on the internet.

It doesn’t make you dumb or stupid it just makes you wrong and that’s ok. Keep an open mind for criticism.

  1. To take it a step further, the point of debate and argument isn’t to “win” in the sense of defeating the the “enemy”. Arguments are not soldiers, and acknowledging that the person we’re debating has a good point is not “giving care and comfort to the enemy”.

The real point, the real victory, is when we both learn things (even just why one of us was mistaken and how to correct the misinformation that led to it), and we both leave with the correct answer — whether that was mine, yours, somewhere in between, or something else entirely.

The point is to come away with more knowledge and better policy, so we can make better decisions in the world. Thus, when I’m wrong, _I want to know._

  2. I’ve met so many people that just assume they’re always right and it’s the worst thing. It’s okay to learn new things from other people, you aren’t a god.

  3. It’s so toxic to meet people who don’t have this mindset, you feel like you can never correct them when they are wrong or challenge their views because they just can’t possibly be wrong.

The funny part is that it just creates a larger knowledge gap between those who can admit to being wrong and those who can’t, because they will just never learn anything whilst those who can admit will just keep learning

  4. I was talking about this tonight. We can believe something but never be 100% confident that it is true as there is nothing sure other than death itself. Specially when talking about politics or technical discussions.

If you’re stuck on an annoying call, put your phone on airplane mode instead of just hanging up. The other person will see “call failed” instead of “call ended”.

If someone is upset that you don’t want to gossip with them, tell them this
